A popular-science conference on the role of women – residents of the Land of Oświęcim – in helping KL Auschwitz prisoners was organized by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Memorial Museum and the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust (ICEAH) at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.
The conference took place on March 31, 2022 at 10. 30 am in hybrid form – at the MCEAH headquarters at 15 Leszczyńska Street in Oświęcim and online.
The activities of women living in the Oświęcim area during World War II were significant and took many forms- from spontaneous help to work in the ranks of underground organizations. With great devotion and extraordinary courage, regardless of the costs and risks, women engaged in helping KL Auschwitz prisoners.
During the conference, it was possible to hear four lectures on the main areas of aid activities carried out by women and the specificity and local conditions of the resistance movement near KL Auschwitz.
