A few days ago, the extended version of the mobile application dedicated to the heroes of the educational trail at The Remembrance Museum of the Land of Oświęcim was officially launched. Its first edition, developed at the end of 2024 with funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO), has already become a permanent part of the museum experience, combining history with modern technology.

A New Version of the Project – Full Educational Trail and English Language Support.

The latest release – “ARchitecture of Memory 2.0” – significantly expands the project. It completes the trail by adding three previously missing locations, now covering all seven stops, and introduces a full English-language version, making the application accessible to international visitors.

AR Technology in the Service of Remembrance.

“ARchitecture of Memory 2.0” is an innovative educational tool that uses augmented reality (AR) technology. Through mobile devices, visitors can encounter three-dimensional figures of children who helped prisoners of the Auschwitz camp during World War II. Each story is accompanied by a video, allowing visitors not only to see the figures within the space of the trail, but also to hear accounts of their courage and determination.

Combining the Real and Digital Worlds.

The project is closely integrated with the design of the educational trail. Each stop, dedicated to one of the young heroes, features a sculpture, an information board, and a recreational element for younger visitors—such as a slide, swing, or climbing structure. The 3D models visible in the app are digital representations of the sculptures located at each site. This creates a direct dialogue between the virtual and physical layers of remembrance, combining historical reflection with an open and accessible form of storytelling.

Project Support and the Development of Culture.

The project “ARchitecture of Memory 2.0 – expansion of the mobile application with new content in Polish and English” has been implemented with support from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, as part of Investment A2.5.1 – a program supporting the cultural and creative sectors.

How to Use the Application.

The “ARchitecture of Memory 2.0” app is available free of charge on the App Store and Google Play.

Tablets with the app installed are also available at the museum, and staff are happy to assist visitors in using it

Invitation to Discover History.

We warmly encourage you to download the app and explore the educational trail to discover these stories for yourself—stories embedded in a space of memory. It is an encounter with the past that stays with you long after your visit.
