targeted grants
Target grant for investment expenditure from Ministry of Culture and National Heritage funds from the state budget for the project “Building adaptation for the needs of the Remembrance Museum of Land of Oświęcim Residents with the creation of a permanent exhibition”. Funding value: 35,000,000.00 PLN The purpose of the investment is the adaptation of the historic building belonging to the historic complex of buildings of the former Grain and Milling Works and Tobacco Works, for the needs of the newly created museum. In the years 1940-44, the building was used to help in the functioning of the KL Auschwitz concentration camp as an SS “Lagerhaus” warehouse. Because of its history, the building is an appropriate place for the creation of the Remembrance Museum of Land of Oświęcim Residents. The creation of the museum stems from the need to supplement the narrative about the centuries-long history of the Land of Oświęcim through the prism of the fate of its inhabitants, including the tragic situation of the local population after the outbreak of World War II and the aid rendered to prisoners of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi German concentration and extermination camp.
