Target grant for investment expenditure from Ministry of Culture and National Heritage funds from the state budget for the project “Building adaptation for the needs of the Remembrance Museum of Land of Oświęcim Residents with the creation of a permanent exhibition”.
Funding value: 35,000,000.00 PLN
The purpose of the investment is the adaptation of the historic building belonging to the historic complex of buildings of the former Grain and Milling Works and Tobacco Works, for the needs of the newly created museum. In the years 1940-44, the building was used to help in the functioning of the KL Auschwitz concentration camp as an SS “Lagerhaus” warehouse. Because of its history, the building is an appropriate place for the creation of the Remembrance Museum of Land of Oświęcim Residents. The creation of the museum stems from the need to supplement the narrative about the centuries-long history of the Land of Oświęcim through the prism of the fate of its inhabitants, including the tragic situation of the local population after the outbreak of World War II and the aid rendered to prisoners of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi German concentration and extermination camp.
Specific grant for current expenditure from the funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage for the task: “We’re opening, we’re promoting – Remembrance Museum of Land of Oświęcim Residents’ permanent exhibition opening events subsidies”.
Value of financing: 250,000.00 PLN
The goal of this task is to provide information about the creation and activities of the Remembrance Museum of Land of Oświęcim Residents to the widest possible audience, not only in Poland. The main goal of the museum is to publically commemorate and present the sacrificial involvement of the inhabitants of the Land of Oświęcim in helping the prisoners of the former German concentration and extermination camp KL Auschwitz-Birkenau. As part of the task, various forms of promotional events are planned, such as workshops, conferences, and concerts.
