The Remembrance Museum of the Land of Oświęcim Residents invites you to a unique concert of sung poetry entitled “To the Indomitable” which will take place on March 2, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at the museum’s headquarters at 2A on M. Kolbego Street. This event is organized on the occasion of the National Remembrance Day of the “Cursed Soldiers” and is an artistic tribute to the heroes of the independence underground who, after World War II, refused to surrender and carried on the fight for Poland’s sovereignty—many of them paying the highest possible price.

The poet and bard Janusz Saługa and his friends will perform on stage, presenting songs from the album “To the Indomitable”. This extraordinary album that was created over the years was inspired by the fate of the soldiers of the anti-communist resistance. Through the fusion of music and poetry, it captures the spirit of those times and reminds us of the values for which the „Cursed Soldiers” (pol: Żołnierze Niezłomni) fought—honour, homeland, and faith. The album starts with Cyprian Kamil Norwid’s message from his poem „Moja Piosnka” (My Little Song) and concludes with the piece „Proste Prawdy” (Simple Truths), with the lyrics of Barbara Lipińska-Postawa. The sound of the album is enriched by the tones of guitar, violin, flute, accordion, harmonica, and trumpet, creating a unique and touching atmosphere.

The concert’s repertoire is based on the texts of contemporary poets such as Wojciech Wencel, Kazimierz Józef Węgrzyn, Leszek Andrzej Mroczkowski, and Barbara Lipińska-Postawa. Their poetry, full of patriotism and reflection, allows the audience to better understand the dramatic fate of „the Cursed Soldiers” and to pay them respect the deserve.

The concert „To the Indomitable” is not just a music event but also a moment of reflection on history and the heroism of those who opposed the Sovietization of Poland. Their efforts were brutally suppressed by the communist security apparatus—many were killed in unequal fight, murdered in prisons, or condemned to oblivion. Thanks to such events we can honour their heroism and restore their rightful place in history.

We invite you to an evening full of reflections and emotions, dedicated to pay the tribute to the heroes of our history.
