The Remembrance Museum of the Land of Oświęcim Residents invites you to an educational session dedicated to the work of Tadeusz Makowski. An outstanding artist from Oświęcim. His exceptionally sensitive painting continues to captivate audiences with its richness of form and color. The event will take place on 19 November 2025. It will allow participants to explore Makowski’s life and works from various perspectives – historical, artistic, and collectible.

Lectures on the Artist’s Life and Achievements

The session will feature Światosław Lenartowicz, an art history researcher and curator at the Department of Contemporary Art at the National Museum in Kraków. He will discuss the evolution of Tadeusz Makowski’s artistic work and will also present selected works that best reflect the character of his oeuvre.

Makowski from the Perspective of an Art Collector

Prof. Dr h.c. mult. Jerzy Stelmach, lecturer at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, will speak about the significance of Makowski’s works from the art collector’s perspective. He will highlight, among other insights, the conscious and thoughtful selection of a given piece for a private collection. This may not always be obvious to the casual viewer.

Exhibition of Tadeusz Makowski’s Works at the Museum of Remembrance

The session will be accompanied by a presentation of Makowski’s works from the collection of The Remembrance Museum of the Land of Oświęcim Residents. The exhibition will give participants the opportunity to closely view the artist’s original works and gain a deeper understanding of his unique style. At the same time, the museum will also host a temporary exhibition “Makowski Through the Eyes of Seniors”, presenting reproductions created by the residents of the Day Care Centre in Oświęcim, inspired by the artist’s work.

Workshops for Children – Living Pictures Inspired by Makowski

The event will be complemented by the workshop for children “Living Pictures Inspired by Makowski’s Painting”, which will take place on 20 November. The youngest participants will have the chance to explore the artist’s world creatively by making their own interpretations of his works in the form of “living pictures” – scenes inspired by Makowski’s art, performed by the children and captured in photographs.

Art, History, and Inspiration – A Meeting for All Generations

The session “Discovering the Artists of the Land of Oświęcim – Tadeusz Makowski” is a unique opportunity to learn about the creative journey of one of the most outstanding artists from the Oświęcim region. The event will combine reflection on cultural heritage with an exploration of current inspirations drawn from his work, creating a space for dialogue between the past and the present.
