At a gala ceremony at the Wawel Royal Castle, Director Dorota Mleczko received the Special Award for the Remembrance Museum in the Sybilla 2022 Competition for the Museum Event of the Year. The award is given to museums for outstanding achievements and promotion of the best models of museum activities.
In the 43rd Edition of Sybilla, the jurors evaluated more than 140 museum projects implemented in 2022, submitted under six competition categories such as conservation and protection of cultural heritage, education, scientific and research projects, new and modernized permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions, and investments.
The Remembrance Museum received the Special Award for the adaptation of a building for the museum, along with the creation of a permanent exhibition.
“I am very pleased that our museum has been awarded the Sybilla 2022 Special Award. It is a great honour to be among the distinguished projects. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this success with their work and commitment. In my opinion, this award is not only an appreciation of the work of the museum team, but also an honour to all those who selflessly rendered aid to the prisoners of KL Auschwitz during World War II,” said director Dorota Mleczko.
In this year’s edition of Sybilla, a Special Award was also given to the Pilecki Family House Museum in Ostrow Mazowiecki.
The competition is organized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the National Institute for Museums and Public Collections one of whose roles is to set standards in museology, foster development and innovation in the management of museums and public collections.
