For the fourth time, the Sensitive Culture Festival will bring together cultural institutions from across the Małopolska region around a shared goal: creating and promoting cultural experiences that are accessible to everyone. This year, 38 institutions from across the region have prepared 90 diverse events. The Museum is also participating in the festival, this year as a co-organizer.
In several towns and cities—including Gorlice, Kraków, Krynica-Zdrój, Lusławice, Miechów, Niepołomice, Nowy Sącz, Szlachtowa, Tarnów, Wadowice, Wygiełzów, Zakopane, and Zubrzyca Górna—visitors will be able to take part in theater performances, concerts, workshops, guided tours, and walks.
The theme of this year’s festival is “The Art of the Senses.” The program places particular emphasis on experiencing the world through multiple senses, often in unconventional ways that go beyond simple associations.
The Sensitive Culture Festival was created to make culture more accessible to people with disabilities and others who may face barriers to accessing cultural events. At the same time, the participating institutions have taken steps to ensure that the events are comfortable and accessible to people with a wide range of needs. The accessibility measures include audio descriptions and tactile graphics for people who are blind or visually impaired; Polish Sign Language (PJM) interpretation for Deaf people and those who use sign language; hearing loops for people who use hearing aids or cochlear implants; and noise-canceling headphones, which can be helpful, for example, for people on the autism spectrum. Each event will also include clear information about architectural accessibility.
The Sensitive Culture Festival is more than a series of inclusive events—it is an invitation to experience culture that is open to everyone. The organizers encourage participants to challenge established ways of thinking, feeling, and interpreting, and to help create a space where everyone, regardless of age, level of physical or mental ability, or individual needs, can feel fully at home. It is a unique opportunity to discover how diversity can enrich the way we experience culture and how much we can learn from one another. Culture should bring people together, not divide them, becoming a shared language that breaks down barriers and opens the door to mutual understanding.
The festival will take place September 20–30, 2026.
