Child Protection Standards: How to Wisely Prevent Child Abuse in Cultural Institutions

This session will focus on the implementation of child protection standards, providing participants with the knowledge needed to create a safe environment for children and youth. Special attention will also be given to the topic of recognizing signs of abuse, particularly:

Topics covered during the meeting will include:

  • What are the forms of child abuse?
  • How can a child communicate that they are being harmed?
  • What are the symptoms of abuse?
  • Where does neglect begin and end – are there any boundaries?

The program will also include methods of responding to situations that violate children’s safety. The following key topics will be addressed:

  • How to protect a child once they revealed abuse by an adult or peer?
  • When do signs of neglect go beyond a conversation with a parent or guardian?
  • Where and to whom should cases of abuse be reported?
