The inaugural meeting of the Museum Council took place at 10am on 28th March 2024 at the Remembrance Museum of Land of Oświęcim Residents.
Mrs Dorota Mleczko, Museum Director, took the floor and welcomed those in attendance. Mrs. Iwona Gibas, member of the Małopolska (Lesser Poland) County Board, then handed out the appointment letters.
By the decision of the Małopolska (Lesser Poland) County Board, the Museum Council is composed of:
– Mrs. Dorota Niedziela – Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland
– Mr. Andrzej Kacorzyk – Deputy Director of the Auschwitz – Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim
– Mr. Jarosław Jurzak – President of the Management Board of Nadwiślańska Spółka Mieszkaniowa (Housing Company) in Brzeszcze
– Mr. Radosław Włoszek – President of the Management Board of Kraków Airport
– Ms. Teresa Jankowska – Member of the Oświęcim District Board
Mrs. Wioletta Oleś – Director of the Castle Museum in Oświęcim
– Mr. Tomasz Kosecki – Director of Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow
– Mr. Władysław Kwiatkowski – Director of Center of Roma History and Culture in Oświęcim
– Mrs. Beata Szydło – Member of the 9th term of the European Parliament
– Dr. Jarosław Szarek – Director of the Home Army Museum (named after Gen. Emil Fieldorf ‘Nil’) in Krakow
– Rev. Prof. Dr. Wojciech Zyzak – Professor at the Department of Spiritual Theology of the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow
– Mrs. Helena Wisła, Ph.D. – President of the Memorial Hospice Foundation of the City of Oświęcim
– Ms. Barbara Ledwoń – Deputy Director of the Małopolska Teacher Development Center in Oświęcim
– Prof. Dr. Jacek Chrobaczyński – historian, retired research and didactic employee of the Institute of History and Archival Studies at the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow
Dr Jarosław Szarek, Director of the Home Army in Krakow, was elected Chairman of the Council, and Mr Tomasz Kosecki, Director of the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow, was elected Deputy Chairman.
