It was a very family-oriented Night of the Museums

Event partner:

Two thousand people visited the Remembrance Museum during the Night of the Museums 2023. Most of them were attracted by the spectacular visualizations on the facade of the museum building.

At 5 pm the doors of the museum were opened. With every minute there were more and more guests. Workshops and games on the magic carpet attracted lots of families with children. Families were the dominant part of the participants in this year’s Night of the Museums at the Remembrance Museum. Thank you.

From the beginning, the knowledge quiz devoted to the permanent exhibition was extremely popular. In order to get 100 percent correct answers, you had to be very attentive and take a lot of time to go through the entire exhibition. The most difficult question was which of the four buildings shown in the photos on the quiz form is not in the Oświęcim area. It required a long search on a touch screen with the history of castles, palaces and churches.

The vast majority of participants struggled with the quiz questions and coped bravely with this challenge as well. A total of 248 people completed and returned the quizzes. Visitors who decided to face the quiz challenge were rewarded by Joanna and Justyna with prizes – nearly 500 museum souvenirs – books, mugs, magnets, company pens and forget-me-nots were presented.

Before 9 p.m. and the first, of four, sound and light shows in front of the eastern facade of the museum building, a lot of people gathered. Director Dorota Mleczko and Oswiecim County Board member Teresa Jankowska warmly welcomed all vistors. The first show ended with enthusiastic applause. Among those appearing in the large-format multimedia story of witnesses to history about life before the war and during the German occupation was Roman Witkowski who did not live to see his stories on the big screen. He died in March 2023. He was 89 years old.

“A beautiful history lesson about humanity, good and evil, help…🥰🌹 Thank you to the Remembrance Museum,” Teresa Jankowska wrote on her Facebook profile after the screening.

Another participant of the mapping show summed it up like this: “The last time I had such a jaw dropping experience was when I went to the cinema for 4D.”

It turned out to be a wonderful success this year for the city to organize and present a joint offer of museums and places worth visiting in conjunction with the Gastronomic Night of Museums. Many people collected stamps as souvenirs.

We would like to thank all the participants of Night of the Museums 2023 at the Remembrance Museum for their visit, kindness, great conversations, important insights and many good wishes.

The organization of the Night of Museums was supported by Event Partner Tauron Dystrybucja S.A., which implements the TAURON Fuses program.
