The Remembrance Museum of the Land of Oświęcim warmly invites local residents, history enthusiasts, victims’ families, and everyone interested in history to our next “Meeting with History,” combined with the presentation of the Museum’s latest publication, “Victims of the Katyn Massacre from the Oświęcim Region.”

The Katyn Massacre is one of the most tragic chapters in Polish history. Although decades have passed since these events, the memory of the victims still needs to be preserved and passed on to future generations.

The latest book published by the Remembrance Museum of the Land of Oświęcim focuses on residents of the Oświęcim region who fell victim to Soviet terror and were murdered by the NKVD in the spring of 1940. Among them were Polish Army officers, State Police officers, and members of the Polish intelligentsia.

The publication tells the stories of individuals connected with the region, offering a local perspective on the Katyn Massacre. Their lives, service, and tragic deaths form an important part of our shared heritage—one that should be preserved for future generations.

The publication grew out of a conference dedicated to the victims of the Katyn Massacre from the Oświęcim region, held at the Museum in 2025. The presentations delivered at the conference were subsequently expanded with research findings and source materials, forming the basis of the book.

During the event, the publication and its key themes will be presented. One of the book’s co-authors, Dr. Dominik Abłamowicz, will also be a guest speaker. He will share his experiences from archaeological work carried out at the site of the Katyn Massacre.

We cordially invite you to participate in the event.
