Preparation of the concept of the Museum, the execution of the renovation and modernisation of the existing building and the preparation of the exhibition in remembrance of the heroic inhabitants of the land of Oświęcim who took aid to prisoners and victims of KL Auschwitz-Birkenau – these are the main tenets of the contract signed on 4th January 2019 by Dorota Mleczko, Museum Director and a consortium of three companies from Cracow who won the tender for the preparation of the design documentation for the investment task “Adaptation of a building for the needs of the Land of Oświęcim Residents’ Memory Museum and the execution of a permanent exhibition – design phase works.”

For the project, which opened for bidding on 26th November 2018, three offers came in. The board appointed the most favourable offer, that of a consortium of three companies from Cracow represented by Pracownia Konserwacji Zabytkow “ARKONA” Ltd. The contract consists of three stages. The first is the preparation of the concept of the Museum and the design of the permanent exhibition. The second stage is the renovation and modernisation of the “Lagerhaus” building and the third is the artistic and practicable design of the permanent exhibition.  The contractor has until September 2020 to comply with the demands of the contract. The value of the signed contract is over 1 million 672 thousand PLN.

“On acceptance of the renovation and modernisation project, works will be carried out in two areas simultaneously. The renovation will be carried out at the same time as work on the preparation of the permanent exhibition of the Museum,” said Dorota Mleczko, Museum Director.
