On the 82nd anniversary of the first transport of Poles to Auschwitz, a group of former prisoners and their families visited the permanent exhibition at the facility at 2A Kolbego Street in Oświęcim.

“It is a great honour for me and the staff that you have found at least a moment to visit our museum,” said Dorota Mleczko, director of the Remembrance Museum, as she welcomed the guests to the conference room before showing them around the exhibition.

A few hours later, the former prisoners took part in commemorations marking the 82nd anniversary of the first transport of Poles to Auschwitz, which were held at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum and the Witold Pilecki Małopolska State University building. The Remembrance Museum of Land of Oświęcim Residents was represented at the ceremony by a two-person delegation-Director Dorota Mleczko and Museum educator Joanna Cebulska.

June 14 is commemorated as National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of German Nazi Concentration and Death Camps.
