In the evening of December 29, guests of the Remembrance Museum of the Land of Oświęcim Residents had the opportunity to participate in a unique concert performed by Olga Bończyk entitled „Music Makes Everything Better”. The performance of the outstanding artist, marking the culmination of the Museum’s activities in 2024, attracted great interest and filled all the seats in the audience.
The guests were welcomed by the director of the Museum, Ms. Dorota Mleczko. In warm words, she thanked the gathered guests for their presence and the museum team for their work and commitment. As a short summary, the director cited the number of people who visited our Museum throughout the year – 21,000 visitors. She also expressed gratitude to the Management Board of the Małopolska Province for supporting the development of the facility, including the purchase of new language versions of audio guides.
Ms. Iwona Gibas, Member of the Management Board of the Małopolska Region, spoke on behalf of the voivodeship authorities. She emphasized her joy with the development of the Museum and congratulated the museum team. She also announced a unique cultural program involving 25 cultural institutions from the Małopolska Region that will participate in 2025 as part of celebration of the Millennium of the Kingdom of Poland.
After the greeting, the voice belonged to the star of the evening – Olga Bończyk. The outstanding artist took us on a musical journey filled with familiar melodies in completely new arrangements. The audience could listen not only to Polish songs: “Piosenka jest dobra na wszystko” (“A Song is Good for Everything”), “Wymyśliłam Cię” („I made you up”), “Ktoś mnie pokochał” (“Someone Has Fallen in Love with Me”), “Walc z Nocy i Dni” (Waltz from the movie „Nights and Days”), but also to American winter songs in the Polish language version: “Kiedy zima siecze” (“Let it snow”) or “Białe Święta” (“White Christmas”). Especially touching were the artist’s original songs, such as “Moja Mama” („My mom”) and “Niewypłakane łzy” („Unshed Tears”), which left the listeners with the warmth of delicate sounds.
Between the songs, the star shared numerous anecdotes, both personal and from the world of theater. Olga Bończyk, not only with her voice, but also with her personality, created an atmosphere that will remain in the hearts of the participants of the concert for a long time. Her ability to connect with the audience made the event an intimate meeting, full of warmth, good feelings and emotions.
The vocalist was accompanied by excellent jazz musicians: Piotr Wrombel (piano), Michał Bocek (drums), Michał Jaros (double bass). Their masterful performance enriched the concert, adding a unique character to it.
The evening ended with thunderous applause and a standing ovation, then the audience left the hall with smiles on their faces and their hearts being touched deeply. Olga Bończyk’s concert was a beautiful summary of 2024 at the Remembrance Museum of the Land of Oświęcim Residents. We would like to thank the artists and concert participants for an extraordinary evening. We wish our guests and supporters all the best for the coming New Year and we already invite you to the next events in 2025.
