The Remembrance Museum of the Land of Oświęcim Residents cordially invites you to the opening of the special exhibition entitled “In times of war, the law falls silent”, which will take place in the Museum on January 17, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. The exhibition accompanies the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.

The exhibition, prepared in cooperation with the Libiąż Cultural Centre, is a unique collection of works devoted to the subject of suffering, death, and traumatic experiences related to concentration camps. The collection of Libiąż Cultural Centre includes 280 artworks created in the years 1949-2006, made by painters, graphics, sculptors as well as students of art schools, folk artists, and amateurs. Over twenty works will be exhibited in our museum.

The opening of the exhibition will be preceded by artistic workshops for young people. The class will begin at 9:00 am with a lecture on the liberation of Auschwitz, after which participants will create artwork interpreting the word “liberation” in a broader context. The workshops will be an opportunity to creatively tackle a difficult but extremely important historical topic.

We invite everyone interested to participate in the opening – admission to the event is free. The exhibition “In times of war, the law falls silent” will be open to visitors until February 27, 2025.
