A website rich in interesting historical content – this is the latest proposal of the Remembrance Museum of Land of Oświęcim Residents for young and slightly older local history fans.
Initially, the portal was conceived as a website intended to provide assistance and substantive support to teachers in popularizing stories close to our heart. With its construction, however, new ideas began to come up, and, with their implementation, plenty of attractive content. Therefore, we can confidently also offer the materials on this portal to people who left school a rather long time ago.
At www.edukacja.muzeumpamieci.pl you will find unique collections of photos, stories of places, meetings with witnesses of history and educational materials that will allow you to deepen your knowledge of the district known as the “land” (ziemia) of Oświęcim.
A separate section has been dedicated to teaching, where educators can find a range of materials useful for running interesting classes.
In addition, we have divided the portal into six sections, which we will gradually enrich with new content.
Locals’ family stories
As the name suggests, this is a place for narratives in subjective form – one in which history is recalled by people documenting the fate of their loved ones. Each story is illustrated with archival photos.
“Encounters with history…”
One of the forms of popularization of history by the Remembrance Museum of Land of Oświęcim Residents is “Encounters with history…” These are events organized for residents of specific villages and dedicated to local heroes. In this section there are video recordings and speeches from Osiek and Brzeszcze. The Covid-19 pandemic means that plans to host more Remembrance Museum gatherings have had to be postponed until a future date.
Mini lectures
This is where we have started to create a museum library with video lectures on local history. Here we will invite not only academics and history researchers, but also passionate connoisseurs of characters, events and places to make a video.
Quizzes
This is one of the freer forms of checking your knowledge. This, however, does not mean that the questions contained in the quizzes are or will be easy. Anyway, see for yourself and challenge yourself with questions about the history of Oświęcim, Kęty or heroes who helped prisoners of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp KL Auschwitz.
Educational materials
This is a knowledge corner designed primarily for pupils who can get to grips with specific tasks. Older people may be interested in attractive presentations dedicated to outstanding people associated with the land of Oświęcim.
