Senior Weekend with Culture” and SENIORweek are two interesting projects for seniors in which The Remembrance Museum of the Land of Oświęcim Residents participates.

“Senior Weekend with Culture” is an annual event initiated by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, now taking place for the twelfth time. The main goal of this initiative is to tackle social exclusion of the elderly and to encourage them to actively participate in cultural life. On October 1, we celebrate the International Day of Older Persons, also known as World Senior Citizen’s Day.

On October 4–5 (Saturday–Sunday), 2025, we invite seniors to visit our permanent exhibition free of charge between 10:00 and 16:00 (last entry at 15:00).

On October 5 (Sunday), 2025, at 11:00, we are planning a free screening of the film The Courier directed by Marek Luzar. It tells the extraordinary story of Władysława Krystyna Rzepecka, née Harat, Second Lieutenant of the Home Army, codename “Wanda.” In 1943, as a 17-year-old girl, she delivered to Warsaw documents stolen by prisoners from the German concentration camp Auschwitz. The information she carried was later used in Jan Karski’s report.

Our museum also joins the group of town institutions co-organizing the next edition of SENIORweek in Oświęcim, which will be held from October 11 to October 17, 2025.

As part of this initiative, we offer seniors from our city:

– free tours of the permanent exhibition with an audio guide, in Polish Sign Language, and with audio description, between 10:00 and 16:00 (last entry at 15:00);

– on October 14 (Tuesday), 2025, at 10:00 and 12:30, free workshops entitled “Help Had a Woman’s Face”;

– on October 14, 2025, at 14:00, a free screening of the film The Courier.

Registration: tel. +48 33 847 44 84 ext. 43

Our museum also takes part in the 3rd edition of the Festival of Inclusive Culture, organized by the Małopolska Institute of Culture, which will be held from September 21 to October 1, 2025.

The aim of the festival is to promote inclusivity and broad access to culture.
